Most are soft, formed by sand, but otherwise not a whole lot different than the streams you are most comfortable fishing.

I'm 90% saltwater, but almost all on foot (a little in kayak) and generally feel the same way about boat fishing in the open ocean. We live in Chatham off Jones Ferry and I'd like to start fishing the Haw. Thanks for your blog - very useful not to mention thought-provoking. I have one at www.surffisher.com - unless I'm really inspired, my prose doesn't usually match yours though!

Best,
VicVichttp://www.surffisher.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791496318819973464.post-77122795372316264752010-07-14T20:14:56.406-04:002010-07-14T20:14:56.406-04:00Mike,

I right now am enjoying my edges and hope it never ends, but know one day it will. Fishing edges build memories that we all long to have and cherish for a life time!

SamSam Costellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09672242497868014155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791496318819973464.post-70399043675467544932010-07-13T11:08:12.405-04:002010-07-13T11:08:12.405-04:00Just about deep enough for me! I share Mike's aversion to an unbounded, limitless expansive of water, versus a river, stream, or lake where you can 'touch' the boundaries & gain a sense of the 'edges' in the space. In fact, I prefer walking & wading to even being in a boat on a river or lake. Put me someplace where my feet can touch the ground! "Grounded" means more than just touching the earth, of course, and Mike's captured that feeling well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5791496318819973464.post-11412380084818672382010-07-12T12:27:11.740-04:002010-07-12T12:27:11.740-04:00Too deep for me. =)Too deep for me. =)Feather Chuckerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17816824282816730471noreply@blogger.com
