Playin' Possum

I'm often asked how I fill up my day
now that I’ve retired
Never quite sure what to say

Perhaps I should write a series of posts
that tries to explain
and call it
Silly Shit That Mike Does

Today
for example
instead of splitting wood
as planned
I played cat-and-mouse with a baby possum
in and around the woodpile

Maybe some other things too
I forget

But distracted
I was
from what was meant to be done
and it really didn't matter

I simply played possum
'til tomorrow

I'm right there with you, Mike. The world is full of infinite distractions when one is no longer driven by externally imposed deadlines.

Possum on!

Infinite distractions, and then some. You are so right, Cathy. It's a joy to have the freedom to follow them as they appear.

They are kind of cute when they're not hissing and showing their canines.

Yeah, Kev, cute when they're little. Butt ugly when they grow up, though.

Kind of like people.

I've shared an image of your baby possum on my new Facebook Community page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Channeling-Memaw/159472600924090). This page is devoted to life in Southern Appalachia.
